Hypnosis is more of a SKILL than a gift. A hypnotist is not born as a hypnotist, like any other talented expert. It’s something we have to study, practice, and develop like any other skill, and it can take months or even years to master. However, there are no pre-determined criteria for someone may or cannot learn hypnosis. So, if someone is eager to learn, almost anyone may become a hypnotist.

To learn hypnosis, all you need is the correct kind of training, which is easier to get by than you may imagine! There are numerous books and courses (both online and offline) that will teach you how to become a skilled hypnotist. But there’s something you need to do first before you go looking for them… Before you begin your road to learning the art of hypnosis, you must first decide what you want to achieve through hypnosis.

The state of hypnosis is a trance or hypnotic state that someone enters. To achieve such state, we use hypnotic inductions. After you’ve put someone in hypnosis, you have a few options for how to proceed.

Perhaps your goal is to simply hypnotize someone so that they can experience what it’s like to be in hypnosis. This is known as experience hypnosis, and in addition to learning how to hypnotize, you’ll probably need to learn how to use hypnotic phenomena to show the hypnotized person that they’re in hypnosis.

Learning basic hypnosis is a great approach to acquire a handle on the skills needed to generate hypnosis before moving on to more in-depth and specific applications, which I’ll discuss next.
